After an amazing run to the Stanley Cup finals the Flyers are back looking to settle unfinished business. After taking over mid-season Peter Laviolette took the reigns of head coach of the Flyers. He took the team back to square one and players had to learn his new system of play. During this time the Flyers struggled to play as a team and win games. But it finally came together and led to the last game of the season "win and your in" which they won in a shootout against the NY Rangers.
Now with a full season to play under Laviolette expectations are high in Philadelphia. With the departure of Simone Gagne to Tampa Bay, the Flyers have acquired Fwd Nikolai Zherdev, D-man Matt Walker it will be interesting to see how these players fit into the team. But the biggest question remains at Goal tendeing.
For years the Flyers have failed to have a solid man between the pipes. And although both Boucher and Leighton gave their all in the playoffs they are still what people would consider a World Class Goal tender.
As we all know its a long season in the NHL what moves are yet to be made are still unseen. But regardless of what may happen the Flyers are definately a team to be reckoned with this season and will go far into the Playoffs.
