Detroit Red Wings - Season 2010/11 Preview
With the newest aquisitions, Ruslan Salei and Mike Modano, the Wings hope to have a little more depth this season. They are looking forward to a great season, followed by a long playoff run. Modano will also earn some minutes the power play.
Datsyuk will center the first line, with Zetterberg on the left wing and Holmstrøm on the right. On the second line, we will see Filppula on center, and Franzèn and Bertuzzi on the wings. All time American scoring leader, Mike Modano will lead the third line in his first season with the Red Wings, he will have Hudler and Cleary as wingmen. That leaves Kris Draper centering the fourth line with Helm and Eaves on the wings.
On the top defensive unit, we have the captain, Nicklas Lidstrøm and Rafalski. Hitmen Brad Stuart and Kronwall will be giving hits from the second pairing. On the third defensive unit, we have some size in Jonathan Ericsson and Ruslan Salei.
The weakest area for the Red Wings this season is certainly goalies. Howard will start, coming off an impressive rookie season, but failed to impress anyone in the playoffs. Veteran Osgood will be the back up and provide experience.
